Starting up a new WordPress project
This post is going to document how I got this site to the (meager) state that it is in now. Why? To show fellow web developers how it’s done for those who haven’t done it before and to have a handy checklist for me to refer to next time I have to do it.
Choosing the right tool for the (new website) job
When I start a new project, I choose from four types of tools:
flat files (no database) made with a Wysiwyg editor like Dreamweaver or a code editor like TextMate
a blogging engine
a CMS
a MVC framework
There are lots of choices within each of those types, but my tools of choice are:
WordPress
Drupal
Ruby on Rails
